New Work

King Protea is an exotic Hawaiian plant. The blooms captivated me at first sight.

I had a little fun with art and photography by drawing a couple of these magnificent blooms and using the photo app to enhance the colors in photo two.

My ideas came from art and photos on Pinterest.

One Finer Actor

Fine actors in television and movies are few and far between. Mark Rylance  is, in my opinion one exception.

In the series “Wolf Hall” available on Amazon Prime, Rylance shines and draws one into his portrayal as Thomas Cromwell, both hero and villain. As a villainous hero prone to pride and riddled with fear, he fits the bill.

Rylance maintains electric tension of a man in constant turmoil. Torn between an insecure standing in his position and self-grandiosity, he teeters on the edge of hopeful friendship with those born into the true status of social acceptance and freedom and daily insecurity of his ultimate downfall.

Paired in juxtaposition to doomed “Queen” Anne Boleyn, he refuses to see that he marches toward the same fate.

Wolf Hall Sundays, April 5 – May 10, 2015 on MASTERPIECE on PBS Part One Sunday, April 5, 2015 at 10pm ET Having failed to secure the annulment of the King’s marriage to Katherine of Aragon, Cardinal Wolsey is stripped of his powers. His hopes of returning to the King’s favor lie in the ever-loyal Thomas Cromwell. Shown: Claire Foy as Anne Boleyn (C) Giles Keyte/Playground & Company Pictures for MASTERPIECE/BBC This image may be used only in the direct promotion of MASTERPIECE. No other rights are granted. Boleyn and Cromwell are two peas in a pod, scratching and clawing for self-aggrandizement through manipulation of the king. Thinking themselves smarter, better equipped and full of charisma, they underestimate a strong “god-anointed” Tudor of royal blood and his ruthless advisers. Boleyn receives her recompense in the series, Cromwell’s comes later.

Claire Foy numbers among fine character actors in this film of which I look forward to Part Two. Accolades to Masterpiece Theatre, Rylance and Foy!

“Beware the Hands of The Wizard”: In Response to: Buji-nin – Photo Seeking Caption

Hands hold the vessel ancient, black

Set upon with dragons, bowl to stack.

Its wizard pours out wishes, non shall lack.

Beware his brew, you’ll not come back.

Buji-nin: Photo Seeking Title

Here we go…..”Buji-nin” the man himself has begun a game with us.

He seeks a title for the submitted photo in his unfailing love of playing the challenge, his haughty wit and rooting out the depth of the minds of others.

Yesterday in my post I mentioned that I wish you could know this guy. The evidence points to the fact that he is in favor of it.

I am taking the challenge. What is the depth of your mind on this one?

Loved Forever III

Heaven has broken into my heart again. Just when I thought this soul of mine was filled to the brim with all the love it was possible to hold, expend, give, encompass or expect-still more is coming!

A mother’s heart is a wondrous, bottomless well. I ponder the infinite expandableness of it. It’s ability to love is like the womb, growing to hold all it is given in blessing.

Come, new One. I am waiting. We are expecting-our arms, hearts, homes, hands, eyes, all-to welcome, see, hold, know and joyfully greet you. You are now and always,

Loved Forever

Coming On Fall

Some time you don’t get what you want, but what you needed was right there in front of you all the time.

If you read me at all you cannot miss it. It is a category and tag in my drop-down menu. Yesterday I went to my local garden center, the trunk of my car overlayed with plastic, girl scout ready to load up with a flat of It; Blazing Color, more precisely, Ornamental Cabbages-a wonder and majesty of Fall.

Back at home the containers stood empty, soil, Quick Start, frustrating hose all untangled, spades at attention and gloves cleaned. I was prepared to redo for fall.

With anticipation and joy in my heart, I met the mistress of plants, my trusted “Queen of Pots”. You can imagine the depth of despair when she gave me the cabbage calendar. OMG! I was too early. My Blazing Color would not arrive for six more weeks! Seeing the utter dismay and sorrow on my face, she attempted to steer me to the monotonous mums.

Untempted, I meandered through the succulents, found a lovely trailing, twisted pink Philodendron not unlike ones my grandmother misted with her tiny copper can. Shuffling back toward my car, the perfect hand-made and paint-dripped clay pot caught my eye for the pink lady. Happily checking out, a group of ruby-red hens and chicks found their way to my arms and off home we went.

At home with no real potting to speak of necessary, I began to plunder about and re-arrange. Pushed back into a corner of the patio I noticed a quite large pot containing fragrant lavender nearly grown into a tree and overrun with wandering jew. After picking and pruning it a bit, I saw it was quite a beauty. I paired it up with the ruby-red chick pot, placed her majesty, Philodendron close by and was

dazzled with the color and fragrant beauty. Not quite blazing color. Cabbages can wait. For now it’s coming on Fall.
